Abstract

Online learning has become an inevitable part of education, forcing both students and teachers to adjust despite the emotional and academic challenges. The main hypotheses of this study were that leadership and emotional intelligence skills are highly necessary for teachers to adjust to teaching during the new “norm” the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on. This study aimed to assess the impact of the pandemic and online learning on students from their viewpoint. It also aimed to assess teachers’ leadership and emotional intelligence skills through students’ lenses. To elicit responses from the participants, a survey consisting of sixteen questions was given to undergraduate students. The results found that the majority of students felt that teachers did not deal with online learning in an emotionally intelligent manner. The study recommends teachers use emotional intelligence because of its considerable impact on students’ academic performance.
