Urban Development in High Risk Areas of Sitio Spratly Atlag, Malolos Bulacan

Abstract

The island-sitio of Spratly in the city of Malolos is considered as a high-risk area due to several issues that affect the residents in terms of work, schooling, transportation, economy, and the likes. The study focuses on basic problems such as education, employment, and transportation. Using a descriptive method with 60 respondents, the findings reveal that lack of comprehensive urban planning and efficient transportation not only hinders access to resources but also increases safety risk and community resilience during natural disasters. The study underscores the importance of urban planning and effective transportation systems in improving residents’ quality of life. The result shows the need of policy makers to prioritize the enhancement of transportation and develop comprehensive urban planning.
